X-Browser®
The HICO X-Browser® serves as multi-functional retrieval tool to represent electronic contents and illustrations with an optimized user interface.
It was developed with the primary goal of supplying the user as fast as possible and efficiently with the required information and to process the latter by the most diverse functions and linking forms in a user-friendly manner.
  • Use as stand-alone solution, which distributes fast and can be operated easily without special practical knowledge.
  • The linking to product data management systems makes the X-Browser® part of an interactive logistic solution.
  • Efficient quality inspection by collection of test comments directly in the X-Browser® and their electronic feedback into the CMS.
  • Owing to the integration of a search engine, information can be found quicker by full text or metadata search and thus be used more quickly.
Different Views In the X-Browser® it is possible to get different views (publication, hardware or function view) on the same documents of the technical documentation displayed.
Optimized Search
Possibilites
Retrieval functions such as a full text search in XML, HTML and PDF documents, an automatically generated search index, the possibility of a search restriction to parts of the publication and the ranking of the search results according to relevance improve the search result.
Graphic Display In general, various plug-ins (e.g. PTCs Arbortext IsoView) can be integrated. By the use of the HiCo ImageViewer zoom mechanisms for raster graphics are available for the user. At present CGM, SVG, JPEG, GIF, PNG and TIFF graphic formats are supported.
High Configurability By the use of the configuration center various presettings concerning interface and performance of the X-Browser® can be taken.
Incremental Update A special update mechanism ensures the automatic updating of data of a selected publication at initialization.
Navigation The navigation can be represented either as structure tree or in path view. The dynamic navigation window increases the space available for the actual contents.
Fading In/Out of
Text Modules and
Illustrations
Text modules (e.g. status and configuration information) and illustrations embedded in the document can be faded in or out at will to optimize the reading flow in the application.
Comments Due to the integration of the X-ContentBase® mobile, comments to documents can be prepared and managed directly in the X-Browser®.
Day/Night Setting Due day/night setting the contrast for the particular environment can
be settled.
