International specification for Technical Publications using a Common Source Database (CSDB)

S1000D, “International specification for technical publications using a common source database”, is an international specification for the production of technical publications. Since its inception over 30 years ago, S1000D has grown to where it is now used widely around the world.  Currently, its uses include:

  • Civil aviation products
  • Defense systems – including land, sea (naval), and air products
  • Ship industry products
  • Other industries with complex long-lived products (renewable energies, rail industry)
  • Construction industry products

S1000D® is an in EU registered trademark owned by ASD – AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-Europe; asd-europe.org).

S1000D is jointly produced by the following organizations, their members, and customers:
